We will meet between 5:00 and 6:00 at the H Shaft on Bonnie Street off of Ayer Street. At 7:00 p.m. we will gather back at the Pabst Mine Site for a candle light vigil to honor the men who lost their lives in the tragic disaster. We invite anyone who was touched by this or any other mining disaster to join us All hikes and guided tours will be suspended until after the Deer Management Hunt. Look for our snowshoe trail hikes this winter.

We will meet at the Aurora Club at 5:30 p.m.. A guided tour through the “Caves” area will include a preview of the SISU Ski Trail. The SISU Ski Race will be on January 10 2010 finishing in downtown Ironwood. 5. At the City Commission meeting 3/23/09, Mayor Noren stated he thinks a workshop will be the next step but he does not know when that will be.

2. A group will meet with an attorney this week to discuss the details of forming a non-profit “incorporated” group and report back at next week’s Friends meeting.
3. Petitions have begun for signatures of those interested in seeing the park become a reality.
4. The Friends agreed that representatives should update the City Commission on the formation of the group and discuss its plans for eventually become a non-profit entity.  In addition, the Friends is interested on the City Commission’s timeframe for further action on the Park.
5. Discussed avenues for publicizing the Park proposal and volunteered to take the lead in contacting groups identified.  Each presentation would include a viewing of the MMHP slideshow and a request to receive a letter of support from that group supporting the establishment of the MMHP (letters should be addressed to the Ironwood City Commission/Mayor/City Manager).

1. We introduced ourselves and shared our attraction to the idea of developing this park, our vision of what the park can be.
2. We brought those present up to date on where the park is in terms of city commission support.
3. Discussed where to go from here.
4. Decided to pursue incorporation of a non-profit organization, Friends of the MMHP, Inc. Subgroup will meet with attorney to begin drafting required paperwork.
5. Decided to meet again in one week to focus on publicity.
