Two Injured In Anvil Road/US-2 Accident - GCSD Investigates
BESSEMER TOWNSHIP, MI - Thursday, March 11, 2010 - On March 10, 2010 at approximately 19:17 hours a Gogebic County Deputy came across a two vehicle personal injury accident at the intersection of US Highway-2 and Anvil Road in Bessemer Township. The initial investigation indicated that a vehicle traveling westbound on US Highway-2, while attempting to turn left at the Anvil Road intersection, traveled into the path of a vehicle traveling eastbound at the same time. The result of the accident has been described as a head on left turn. Both parties suffered injuries as a result of the accident. The driver of the eastbound vehicle required extrication by the City of Bessemer Fire Department with their jaws of life. Both were transported by Beacon Ambulance to Grand View Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Both vehicles sustained major damage in the accident. It is believed that alcohol was not a factor in the accident. The accident is under investigation and additional information including any citations and names of the parties involved will be released at a later time.
